The 2019 William Ah Ket Scholarship has launched today.
The $6,000 Scholarship, an initiative of the Asian Australian Lawyers Association and sponsored by law firm Maddocks, is open to final year law students, law graduates undertaking practical legal training and young lawyers with no more than five years’ post-admission experience across Australia.
Applicants are required to write a paper researching a topic relating to equality, diversity and the legal profession or the law.
The Scholarship is named for William Ah Ket, who completed his articles at Maddocks in 1902 before beginning a long and successful career at the Victorian Bar. He is Australia’s first barrister of Chinese background.
