Further to yesterday’s notice regarding restrictions on practice, this afternoon (28 April) a new Direction on north-west region gatherings was published.
The Direction now recognises the essential work of the legal profession. The direction now does not apply to:
‘legal services, within the meaning of the Legal Profession Act 2007, if those services are provided in accordance with all relevant COVID-19 information published by Safe Work Australia, as established under the Safe Work Australia Act 2008 of the Commonwealth, as amended or substituted from time to time;’
The Legal Profession Act defines legal services as work done, or business transacted, in the ordinary course of legal practice.
