Australian Red Cross Lifeblood – Legal Services Blood Challenge

1 March to 31 May 2021

The Lifeblood Legal Services  Challenge started on 1 March and runs under their Lifeblood Teams program.

At the moment we only have 9 Tasmanian law firms registered in the Challenge. With around 1500 donors needed EVERY week across Tasmania, including over Easter, it would be a great time for more firms to consider joining and get their teams saving lives over the next few months.

Why get involved? 1 in 3 of us will need blood in our lifetime but only 1 in 30 people donate and every donation can impact 3 lives. That hour you spend donating could help patients across Australia in times of cancer treatment, trauma, major surgery, pregnancy and a host of other situations.

2020 was the inaugural Legal Services Blood Challenge which produced some fantastic results nationally. In unusual times Lifeblood collected 983 blood and plasma donations, helping save up to 2,949 lives in the process.

The targets have been set for 2021 and include:

  • Help save 3000 lives (1000 donations)
  • Register 50 New Donors (32 New Donors in 2020)

These targets can’t be achieved without the assistance of our Community and let’s see TAS make a real impact in the Challenge this year. You can check if your team is already registered and track the results on the Challenge landing page here. Just use the Advanced Search and select State TAS to see the TAS teams registered.

Remember it doesn’t matter whether you have 3 or 300 members, donating as individuals or as a group make every donation count by registering to a Lifeblood Team. Contact Ann Harvey, TAS Group Account Manager on 0419887365 to setup a team or go to Register a Team.  Join an existing team by simply asking when you donate or update your team preferences (and make an appointment) via the DonateBlood APP or through
