  • The Convention is being held at the Panorama Hotel, 1 Quail Street, St Helens.
  • Delegates are accommodated at the Panorama Hotel and Bayside Hotel, 2 Cecilia Street, St Helens (a 2 minute walk along the foreshore from the convention venue).

Weather – It is generally mild on the east coast in November but you are advised to bring warm and wet-weather clothing – it is Tasmania after all!

Convention papers
Papers for the Convention will be distributed electronically and some booklets will also be available at your table. Booklets will not be printed – delegates may choose to print or view on their preferred device.

CPD Points
Attendance at the scheduled sessions during this Convention will gain you 10 CPD points.

Choice of the streamed sessions

  • Along with plenary sessions, there are two streams of sessions being delivered at this convention – advanced and early career lawyer.
  • There is a cap on the number of seats in some streamed sessions.
  • Sessions will not be recorded.
  • At the discretion of the presenter, and due to the interactive format of the event, content within a given topic may (on the day) vary from that listed.
  • Delegates will be invited to indicate their first choice sessions, and every effort will be made to place delegates in that session. This will occur on a first come, first served basis.

Accommodation details

  • Two nights’ accommodation on Friday 7 November and Saturday 8 November have been booked for you at St Helens. Accommodation is at the Panorama Hotel and Bayside Hotel (a 2-minute stroll along the foreshore to the convention venue).
  • Details about which hotel you have been booked into will be emailed to you.
  • Each delegate will have their own room.
  • Check-in is from 4.30pm on Friday 7 November and check out is on Sunday 9 November by 10am.
  • Breakfasts are served from 7am.

Friday 7 November

  • Check in is from 4.30pm. Please note that rooms won’t be available before this time.
  • Welcome drinks and canapes for delegates will be held on Friday 7 November from 5.30pm – 6.30pm on the Panorama Deck (weather permitting) or (weather not permitting) inside the Bistro.
  • If you have indicated a +1 guest this will be separately invoiced to you.
  • Dinner on Friday 7 November can be taken locally in your own free time. Local dining suggestions will be provided. If you choose to dine at the Panorama Hotel, please note that this is the same location and menu as for the following evening’s Convention dinner.

Saturday 9 November

Saturday 8 November

  • Breakfast is served from 7am. The Convention registration desk opens at 8.30am and the Convention starts at 8.45am.
  • Continuous tea and coffee is available.
  • Catering is provided during the day.

Convention Dinner – Saturday 8 November

  • The Convention Dinner is in The Panorama Bistro and Deck. Please arrive around 6.45pm for 7pm seating.
  • If you have indicated a +1 guest this will be separately invoiced to you.
  • A selection of drinks will be offered during the evening as covered by your delegate’s package.
  • For addition drinks you choose to purchase from the bar, the restaurant will take cash/credit card over the bar.
  • Dinner entertainment in the form of the previously traditional ‘drinking from the boot’ will not be held (post-COVID considerations have put paid to that!), however you can still enjoy the ever-popular and often hilarious Toast to the Judiciary. The dinner function formally closes at 11pm.

Sunday 9 November

  • Breakfast is served from 7am in the Bistro. Session 1 on Sunday commences at 9.50am. Please check out before you attend this session.
  • Continuous tea and coffee is available.
  • Brunch will be served – collect a plate and join the last session.
  • The formal program concludes at 1.15pm on Sunday 9 November with the wrap up, awarding of the door prize, and naming the traditional yellow jersey winner (which goes to the most active/engaged participant across the Convention sessions).

Please Note: Any purchases you or your +1 make over the weekend at Panorama or Bayside are to be made with cash/credit card at the time of transaction. Both venues ask that no purchases be billed to your room.

Additional Information

  • Standard (final) registrations close at 5pm on Friday 3 October 2025 due to accommodation requirements of the venue.
  • Two nights of accommodation in your own room is provided for each delegate. This includes breakfast.
  • Please note that due to the number and range of rooms the Society cannot guarantee accommodation type.
  • If you plan to bring your partner, please let the Society know at your earliest. If you are not sure, please contact us at cpd@lst.org.au.
  • Whilst there is no extra cost for your partner’s accommodation, their breakfast will be invoiced separately to you; any costs associated with other family member requirements will also be invoiced separately to you.
  • Partners are welcome to attend the Convention welcome drinks ($60pp) and dinner ($120pp). This will be invoiced separately to you. Guest breakfasts for Saturday and Sunday at the venue will also be invoiced at $50pp. Please let the Society know by Friday 3 October 2025.
  • Food, drink, and accommodation outside that listed above is at the delegate’s own cost and is to be paid for in cash/credit card rather than being charged to your room at the Panorama or Bayside.
