Samantha Masters, Director, Edge Legal

About the Presenter:

Ms Masters is a Director at Edge Legal and head of the litigation and disputes team, specialises in employment and industrial disputes, compliance issues under Enterprise Agreements and Awards, and complex advocacy. An experienced industrial advocate, Sam regularly appears in the Fair Work Commission, Federal Court and state tribunals, achieving notable successes including stopping unprotected industrial action, defending appeals on enterprise agreement disputes, resolving right of entry conflicts, upholding dismissals for safety breaches, and preventing enterprise agreement transfers. Sam is also a trauma-informed workplace investigator, skilled in assessments for complaints, fitness for work (including mental health matters), and misconduct investigations, particularly in regulated state service contexts. She focuses on early, appropriate interventions to resolve workplace issues before they escalate into formal disputes.

About the Presenter:

Ms Wright, was admitted in 2002 and joined the Tasmanian Bar in 2025. She has extensive advocacy experience from nearly a decade as counsel with the Australian Government Solicitor, following earlier practice at Ashurst and AGS. Sarah accepts briefs in administrative, workers’ compensation, discrimination, employment, industrial, inquiries, regulation and professional discipline law. Skilled in appeals, both led and unled, including at the Full Federal Court, Sarah frequently appears unled in discrimination, Fair Work Act, statutory compensation, and complex Administrative Review Tribunal matters, as well as judicial review and appeals. She is trusted with sensitive employment issues. Her career includes a year with the UN in Jordan and service as a Navy Officer. Sarah holds an LLM (Merit), LLB (Hons), BA, and is an accredited workplace mediator, with multiple academic honours and scholarships.
