This Scheme is valid from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027.

Notes

  1. As the default, the Scheme applies to events per the guidelines in Trybooking unless otherwise stated.
  2. To redeem a free registration or recording please email cpd@lst.org.au with the requisite information as stated in the checklist below.

Checklist
Please review this checklist before requesting/querying a CPD activity under this Scheme:

  1. Have you reached your capacity under the Scheme, of a total of 5 free CPD hours?
  2. When requesting an Assist Scheme CPD event booking made manually by the Society please include only the following information: Title (not link) of the CPD event; Attendee first name and last name; Attendee work email address; Organisation; and Format (when these choices are offered) – whether you are attending in-person or livestreamed.
  3. Is the requested CPD activity a Society product or an early career lawyer product? CPD activity that is an early career lawyer committee product is not included in this Scheme. These activities are identifiable by the prefix in the event title: NECL, NWECL, SECL (and for older products – NYL, NWYL, SYL).
  4. Discount codes for applicable CPD activities over 1 hour are listed below and, without getting in touch with the Society, may be applied against the standard registration fee (NB. not against earlybird or any other fee type). Can you book the CPD activity yourself using the relevant discount code as per Fees below?
  5. Does your email subject line state the event name and that it is a CPD Assist query?
  6. Where relevant have you indicated whether you will be attending in-person or livestreamed?
  7. Have you provided, as originally supplied to the Society, your first name, last name and Society member email address?
  8. Have you confirmed that at check-out you are applying the discount code against the listed standard member fee not against earlybird or any other fee type.

———————————

1. This CPD Assist Scheme is only available to holders of current CLC and volunteer practising certificates; and to pupil barristers in their first year of pupillage.

2. Take advantage of up to a total of 5 free hours of Law Society of Tasmania standard CPD activities and discounted longer CPD activities. Standard CPD activities, for the purpose of this scheme, are CPD activities offered by the Society that run for 1 hour or less and may include seminars or recordings. NB. please check the caps against recordings for compliance purposes under rule 3.3(b) in Practice Guideline no. 4.

3. Early career lawyer committee CPD activities, including CPD events and associated recordings, are not included in this CPD Assist Scheme, and the listed registration fees and recording prices are payable.

4. Fees: Most CPD activities over 1 hour attract reduced registration fees by accepting a discount code at checkout against the listed standard member registration (NB. not against earlybird or any other fee type) as follows:
a) ASSIST50 – CPD activities from 1-4 hours are offered at 50% off the listed standard member registration fee; and
b) ASSIST60 – CPD activities such as one-day (or more) conferences are offered at 60% off the listed standard member registration fee.

This does not preclude the Society charging alternative registration fees for CPD activities, at its discretion. If it is not covered by the information above, please enquire with the Society at cpd@lst.org.au about the cost of the specific CPD activity that you are interested in.

5. How to register/redeem: To redeem a free registration or a recording, please email cpd@lst.org.au with the requisite information as stated in the checklist above. If after checking the CPD event listing you remain unsure as to whether it is free or falls outside 4(a) or (b) above, please get in touch. If the session offers in-person and livestreamed, please specify which format you would like to register for.

6. Event registration is not guaranteed: Free CPD Assist registrations are not guaranteed until registrations close. Full paying Society members receive priority. However, unless you hear otherwise, you can presume your registration is successful. You will be contacted by the Society only if the CPD activity you have registered for sells out and your registration is unsuccessful. This will usually occur up to 24 hours prior to the CPD activity.

7. How to guarantee your event registration: If you would like to guarantee your event registration, please purchase a standard registration using the Society’s event booking platform.

8. Cancellation of your event registration: Please advise the Society’s CPD Team at cpd@lst.org.au as soon as possible if you are unable to attend a CPD activity that you have been registered for. This assists with planning and administration as there may be other practitioners on the CPD Assist waitlist.
