EJ Wise
EJ is one of Australia’s most experienced cybersecurity lawyers, with over 29 years in the legal industry. EJ has more than 20 years’ experience as a military lawyer (Royal Australian Air Force, Cyber Squadron) and several years’ experience within the US Air Force JAG Corp’s Operational and International Law section at the Pentagon. EJ has also practised in-house in Australian federal and state government departments.
Through Wise Law, EJ transfers her skills into the private sector by providing training, support and advice to large, complex organisations and corporate groups with her unique blend of legal, operational and crisis management skills. EJ supports organisations to build their cybersecurity resilience, minimise risk and preserve their legal position through policy, governance and preparedness work, cybersecurity training, incident drills, and emergency incident/breach response handling.
EJ has taught at the University of New South Wales School of Law, Society and Criminology, Faculty of Law and Justice, University of Melbourne Business School, the Australian Catholic University, Thomas More Law School and Pericles University, and holds many prominent roles in the cybersecurity industry, including:
- Member, RMIT Industry Advisory Board for Cyber
- Member, UNSW Institute of Cyber Security Advisory Committee
- Member, Executive Advisory Board for AISA
- Member, IEEE Meta-Issues in Cybersecurity
- Director, National Institute for Strategic Resilience
EJ also served as the founding chair of the Australasian Cyber Law Institute.
