- The panel will discuss issues which those practising in litigation face and, in particular, issues in training and retaining lawyers.
- The panel will look at the sources of these issues and consider possible responses.
- Topics will cover day-to-day practice in firms, appropriate training for prospective and new lawyers as well as whether there are any court-related reforms which could facilitate better ways of practising in litigation.

Jennifer O'Farrell, Barrister, Malthouse Chambers
About the Presenter:
Ms Jennifer O’Farrell joined the Tasmanian Bar in July 2023, after practising at Dobson Mitchell Allport and before that, at a national firm in Melbourne. She commenced her career as the Associate to Justice Middleton in the Federal Court of Australia. Jennifer has a broad litigation practice, including general commercial litigation, planning and administrative law and personal injury. She is on the Local Federal Court Users Group, and has recently been invited to join the Law Council of Australia's Class Actions committee, having been the junior barrister for the State on the Ashley Youth Detention Centre class action. She is also the Secretary and Treasurer of the Tasmanian Bar Council. Jennifer teaches the Civil Litigation course at the Tasmanian Legal Practice Course.
