Gerry Connolly

Gerry is a lawyer and ConMoto Group’s Managing Director.

He has approximately 25 years’ experience in both private legal practice and in a corporate environment.

Gerry is ConMoto Group Managing Director and a dualqualified lawyer with vast experience in the Agribusiness,
Government and Renewable Energy sectors.

He acts as an external General Counsel for a number of organisations both within and outside of Australia.

Prior to establishing ConMoto Group, he spent a number of years in private legal practice including as Managing
Partner of a mid-sized Australian law firm and before that in the structured finance team of top tier firm, Mallesons
(now King & Wood Mallesons).

He has also spent a number of years as an in house corporate lawyer with both National Australia Bank and Hydro
Tasmania.

Gerry’s specific legal background is in corporate and commercial transactions with a particular emphasis on:

  • mergers and acquisitions;
  • procurement (RFTs, acquisition of goods and services and works contracts);
  • intellectual property / technology including software development and implementation contracts, SAAS
    contracts and IP licensing arrangements;
  • regulatory compliance (particularly PPSA and Competition and Consumer Act issues);
  • drafting and negotiating documents for renewable energy projects including PPAs, project funding and
    corporate governance and land access arrangements both in Australia and internationally.
    Gerry’s experience includes:

    •  advising the Tasmanian Government in relation to the licensing arrangements relating to the establishment of
      a Tasmanian based Australian Football League team including funding and Stadium based access
      arrangements;
    • acting for a New York headquartered renewable energy developer in relation to the preparation and
      negotiation of land access arrangements, power purchase agreements, EPC and Operations and
      Maintenance Agreements for various projects in multiple jurisdictions including South Africa, Puerto Rico,
      Australia and the Philippines);
    • acting for a number of solar energy developers in Australia who are active in developing, financing and
      operating medium scale hybrid and solar generation assets;
    • drafting best practice procurement documentation for a number of Tasmanian Government and privately
      owned businesses, including preparation of appropriate delegation frameworks, drafting and automation of
      primary procurement documentation and delivery of training to assist in roll out;
    • acting for a national community services provider in relation to a number of Commonwealth funded
      community service programs including negotiation of service level agreements with various Commonwealth
      agencies and establishment of back-to-back subcontracting arrangements with other third-party providers;
      and
    • acting for a major aquaculture industry participant in relation to the procurement of specialist water circulation
      equipment and negotiation of subsequent construction and installation activities at their nursery facilities
      involving both local and overseas contractors – included the preparation of contractual arrangements with
      individual contractors and the implementation of coordination contracts between and among contractors.
