In this podcast Nat Parbhu, Co-Founder, Aspen Legal is interviewed by Hearsay's host, David Turner. Nat speaks about NewLaw which is a global trend that has been revolutionising the legal industry by combining innovative models, processes, and tools with traditional legal services. However, as a concept NewLaw is quite difficult to pin down. Fairfax Associates, a US-based consulting firm, identified four general categories of NewLaw services: Legal Technology and Artificial Intelligence; Legal Managed Services; On Demand Resources and Staffing; and Adjacent Advisory Consulting Businesses. The mix of these different categories between different NewLaw firms can be quite remarkable. One might focus on adjacent advisory work and another on legal technology.

About the Presenter:
Nat Parbhu, Co-Founder, Aspen Legal, started his career in private practice in New Zealand and London, before moving in house into one of the world’s largest FMCG businesses where he led legal teams in Africa and Asia. Upon moving to Melbourne, Nat was a principal and shareholder in new law start up lexvoco where he grew the secondments business in Melbourne and co-founded lexvoco New Zealand. lexvoco was purchased by LOD in 2019 following which Nat headed LOD Legal, the law firm side of the business. The mountains remain Nat’s burning passion away from the workplace.
David Turner, Lawyer, Assured Legal Solutions
About the Presenter:
David Turner has a gift for teasing out people’s stories, so it’s no wonder he is Hearsay’s host. With a double Bachelor of Arts and Laws from Macquarie University, he is also an MBA candidate at UNSW’s Australian Graduate School of Management. When he isn’t interviewing people on Hearsay, David is a lawyer at Assured Legal Solutions, a boutique financial services law firm located in Sydney’s CBD. Prior to joining Assured, he was called to the NSW Bar, and is a former President of NSW Young Lawyers and a former Councillor of the Law Society of NSW. David spends the little downtime that he has left reading historical fiction and tinkering on home improvement projects. David’s bio can be accessed on the Assured Legal Solutions website.
