Kate Moss
Kate Moss B.Sc. LL.B., TEP, Notary Public, is a senior probate lawyer at Director level at WMM Law and in charge of our probate practice area. Kate specialises in trusts and estates, tax and superannuation law, with a particular focus on complex and contentious post death matters.
Kate is one of the most experienced probate lawyers in Tasmania, assisting Executors to administer probate matters for both regular and high net worth estates, including estates with international connections.
In matters that are contentious, Kate’s skill and knowledge enables her to identify relevant practical and legal aspects of the administration of the estate to be taken into account during negotiations (including for example, duty and taxation considerations that may arise as a consequence of agreements between the parties). This ensures that there is a comprehensive resolution of the disputed matters at the earliest possible stage, ultimately allowing the Executors to complete the administration of the estate efficiently and effectively, for the benefit of the beneficiaries.
Kate is a graduate of the University of Tasmania, and holds a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice. Kate has also completed further studies with the Taxation Institute of Australia.
On 16 October 2017, Kate was appointed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Tasmania as a Notary Public. In her capacity as a Notary Public, Kate prepares, certifies and authenticates documents for use in overseas jurisdictions.
Kate is a member of the Law Society of Tasmania, and is also a Full Member of the prestigious Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), an international group of members involved in trusts and estates. She is a member of the Tasmanian branch of STEP, and is the Tasmanian Representative Observer on the Board of STEP Australia.
