SUBJECT: Electronic Conveyancing – update – Part Tenancy transfers and CHANGE OF NAME

Electronic conveyancing has been operational in Tasmania for mortgages and discharge of mortgages since August 2024 and for transfers of land since February 2025. Work involving the Land Titles Office, State Revenue Office and PEXA (being the Electronic Lodgment Network Operator currently licensed to operate in Tasmania) towards incrementally expanding functionality to include other dealing types is ongoing and progressing.

Part tenancy transfers (i.e. transfers of part interests in land) and applications to note change of name are now available in electronic conveyancing on the PEXA platform.

In the PEXA platform “Change of Name” includes Note Marriage, Revert to Maiden Name, Correct Name, Change Name (Births, Deaths & Marriages), Change of Name (Company), Change of Name (Deed Poll), Change of Name (Repute) and Legislative Change. There is no change to the current Land Titles Office lodgment fee for these dealings.

Where any duty is payable in a transaction, this communication must be read in conjunction with any communication from the State Revenue Office.
