SUBJECT: EXTENSION TO TRANSITION PERIOD – APPROVED FORMS MORTGAGE AND DISCHARGE OF MORTGAGE ONLY
Transition Period – Mortgage, Discharge of Mortgage
Previously a transition period of 180 days applied, ending Friday 15 May 2026.
A number of recent queries have been raised in relation to the approved forms for Mortgage and Discharge of Mortgage as well as Recorder’s Directions Version 2.
While the Land Titles Office works to address these queries and provide clarifying information, the transition period relating to the approved forms for Mortgage and Discharge of Mortgage has now been extended and ends Friday 31 July 2026.
For clarity, a transition period of 257 days applies from 17 November 2025 to 31 July 2026 for lodgement of previously approved forms for Mortgage and Discharge of Mortgage only (Current Forms).
On and after 1 August 2026 only New Forms for Mortgage and Discharge of Mortgage will be accepted for lodgment and Current Forms will ordinarily be refused.
