Luke Taylor
Mr Luke Taylor is a barrister at the Old Mercury Chambers in Hobart. Luke was previously Crown Counsel at the State Litigation Office at the Department of Justice, and before that a partner in HWL Ebsworth’s Hobart office, having joined the firm in March 2018. He worked in the firm’s Insurance and Safety groups, and specialised in workers compensation, CTP, public liability and work health and safety matters. Before that, Luke worked at two Tasmanian firms, as well as working in the then civil litigation section of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Luke is currently the Vice-President of the Law Society of Tasmania Council. and serves as Chair of the Law Society’s Litigation Committee. He has also been a national board member of the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA) and was the national lead of AILA’s Marketing & Promotion Portfolio in that time, and he remains a State Committee member for AILA. Earlier in his career, Luke was a member of the Southern Young Lawyers Committee (now the Southern Early Career Lawyers Committee) and was the Society’s nominee on the Australian Young Lawyers Committee.
