Outstanding Committee Award Winner 2025

The Law Society is pleased to announce that the Estate & Succession Law Committee was recently awarded the Outstanding Committee Award 2025, presented at the annual Opening of the Legal Year Dinner on 31 January 2025.

This award recognises the Committee’s exceptional contributions to law reform, advocacy, and professional education over the past year.

Driving Meaningful Reform

A standout achievement of the Committee has been its comprehensive (further) submissions in the latest tranche of inquiry into the Public Trustee, this time conducted by the Office of the Economic Regulator.  These submissions, addressing organisational structure, fee structures, and the regulation of legal services, have played a key role in informing government reforms that are now beginning to take shape.

Beyond this, the Committee’s advocacy and stakeholder engagement has extended across a broad range of issues affecting the legal profession, including interactions with TASCAT, government, and the Supreme Court/Probate registries. Its efforts continue to produce tangible outcomes for practitioners and the wider community.

Commitment to Professional Development

In addition to its law reform work, the Committee has demonstrated a strong commitment to legal education and professional development, successfully organising CPD sessions to support the profession’s growth and learning.
