The State Revenue Office (SRO) has been working with PEXA and the LTO to introduce electronic conveyancing in Tasmania, with a scheduled release in February 2025.
Tasmanian Revenue Online is being updated to accommodate the new conveyancing option.
It is important to know that within the TRO electronic conveyancing environment:
- a) duty will be estimated prior to settlement; and
- b) duty will be paid electronically at settlement rather than post settlement.
Paper-based transfers of land will still be available for TRO Users after the introduction of electronic conveyancing and will continue to be processed post settlement using current practice.
A number of updates and resources will be provided in the coming weeks. These will include a dedicated webpage with access to information and updates as they become available; educational materials and resources; and revised Conditions of Approval for TRO Agents to support the electronic conveyancing option.
