SUPREME COURT OF TASMANIA
CIRCULAR TO PRACTITIONERS
No. 15 of 2025
13 November 2025
CONDUCT OF CRIMINAL CASE MANAGEMENT LISTS

This Circular replaces Circular to Practitioners No. 14 of 2025.

The following arrangements will commence on Monday 17 November 2025 and continue until further notice.

  1. All communications with the Court in relation to matters listed in the criminal case management list (CCML) must be sent to SupremeCourtHobart@supremecourt.tas.gov.au.
  2. Practitioners who wish to have their matters mentioned in order of their seniority may send notice to SupremeCourtHobart@supremecourt.tas.gov.au with the identifying details of each of their matters. For practical reasons this arrangement cannot apply to matters in the custody list.
  3. Notice must be given 2 clear business days prior to the relevant criminal case management list (CCML). For the Hobart CCML on Tuesdays, notice must be received by close of business on the preceding Thursday. For the Burnie and Launceston CCML on Fridays, notice must be received by close of business on the preceding Tuesday. The 2-day notice period is required so that lists and files can be prepared in advance within the registry. Requests for re-ordering of the list inside this period cannot be accommodated.
  4. A request for a matter to be mentioned earlier in the CCML on any other basis must be received in accordance with the timetable above.
  5. Practitioners making these requests are not required to comply with the usual requirement to include the opposing party in the communication.
  6. The Criminal Registry will circulate the CCML board list via email at about 4:30 pm on the day before the CCML.
  7. Practitioners who wish to be added to this distribution list are invited to email their request to SupremeCourtHobart@supremecourt.tas.gov.au, using “CCML distribution list” as the subject line.
