CIRCULAR TO PRACTITIONERS

COURT RECESS
The Court is not scheduled to sit from Monday, 15 December 2025 until Friday, 30 January 2026 inclusive.
Applications will only be heard during the Court recess if properly certified by counsel to be of real urgency.
Applications for appointments for the hearing of urgent matters shall be made by letter accompanying the papers, personally signed by a legal practitioner, in which it is certified that the circumstances are special or that the matter is urgent, with particulars of the reason for urgency given.
The application will then be referred to a Judge who, if satisfied that the matter should be dealt with as an urgent or special matter, will give an appointment.
The Duty Judge will be:

COURT HOLIDAY
The Chief Justice has appointed Wednesday, 24 December 2025 to be a part-day Court holiday, pursuant to r19(e) of the Supreme Court Rules 2000. Registries will close at 1.00 pm that day. All Registries will reopen at 9.00 am, on Friday, 2 January 2026.
