Description
Mr Craig Green, Counsel, Dobson Mitchell and Allport, presents this very topical session into the 2024 Estate and Succession Law Conference. This presentation gives consideration to the following:
- Where things can go wrong – sharing materials/photos; conduct during working hours, involving social media; and out of hours conduct, involving social media, related to work and unrelated to work;
- Social media in legal practice – your professional obligations; and
- Use of emojis – some cases
Key takeaways from this session include:
- Firms and practitioners need to be aware of the risks and take responsibility for their use of social media.
- All firms should have social media policies which are clearly communicated to everyone and clearly state it covers out of hours posts.
- Employers can be held vicariously liable for the activities of employees in the course of their employment – and the scope of that liability is widening.
