What happens when a commercial tenant breaches their lease and eviction is on the table – or when a landlord defaults on their mortgage and the lender steps in? This session tackles the messy realities of default and enforcement from both directions: taking possession from tenants under a lease, and navigating the implications for landlords, lenders, and tenants when mortgagee rights are exercised. About the Presenter:
Mr Chris Groves practises across a wide range of commercial and related disputes, with a focus on company and partnership disputes, insolvency law, building and construction, trust and property disputes and recovery actions. Chris regularly acts for and against insolvency practitioners, developers and property owners, government bodies, large and small builders, shareholders and insurers. He is an accredited building adjudicator under the Security of Payment legislation in Tasmania, NSW and Queensland and has adjudicated hundreds of construction payment disputes since 2010.

About the Presenter:
Mr Andrew Walker practised in commercial litigation at Dobson Mitchell Allport for 25 years, and has had chambers at Derwent and Tamar for 11 years. Andrew's practice includes Supreme Court and Federal Court proceedings concerning disputes about leases for tenants and lessors, orders to deliver possession, relief against forfeiture, and ejectment. Also, disputes about the validity of and the enforcement of mortgages and other securities. He also represents liquidators and receivers in insolvency and reconstruction scenarios.
